EVENT SPACE & KITCHEN RENTALS
The Sherman Heights Community Center is available for your special events such as weddings, receptions, birthday celebrations, baby showers, retirement parties, fundraisers, craft fairs, and other special events. A commercial kitchen, restrooms, tables, and chairs are available for rent.
Kitchen rentals. As a food entrepreneur, you need a place where you have the freedom to create. We offer a clean, commercially-licensed space that has become the go-to-place for chefs, caterers and food producers.

Multipurpose Room
Our large multipurpose room is located on the second floor and has a 200 person capacity. The room offers high ceilings, a wooden floor, views of downtown, and drop down screen. It is ideal for a wide variety of events including weddings ceremonies and receptions, workshops, fundraising events, reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, cocktail receptions, award banquets, press conferences, meetings, conferences, corporate functions, seminars, and alumni receptions.

Up to 200 person
General rate: $125/hour
Nonprofit/SHCC member rate: $85/hour
Rates - Half Hall
Up to 50 person capacity
General rate: $100/hour
Nonprofit/SHCC member rate: $75/hour
Multipurpose room rental includes the following amenities: (15) 6-foot rectangular tables, (13) round tables, (150) chairs, wifi, and a drop-down screen (upon request). Additional rental add-ons include a kitchenette, a stage, and a podium for an additional fee.

Commercial Kitchen
Our 330 square foot commercial kitchen is small but mighty. It offers a 6 burner range, 2 convection ovens, griddle, small flyer, double door refrigerator, grease trap, prep table, 3 sinks, defroster and a handwashing station. Convenient loading and unloading access, separate entry, 24/7 alarm system and commissary letter are also part of our commercial kitchen offerings.

$320 monthly base rate (allows for up to 20 hours of monthly usage)

Building History
The Sherman Heights Community Center is a two-story 12,500 square foot facility designed by renowned architect Robert Quigley in collaboration with community members. The building “evolved through a series of hands-on community design workshops, with schoolchildren and Gray Panthers alike sketching their visions on butcher paper and building models out of clay.” The building also pays homage to the aesthetics of the historic neighborhood of Sherman Heights and to the early 20th-Century architect Irving Gill, who is considered a pioneer of the modern movement in architecture and reportedly lived in a house of his own design on 25th Street. The building also features public works of art by international artists Raul Guerrero and Jean Cornwell and community members.
The cement and wood building features multiple offices, a multipurpose room, a commercial kitchen, inner courtyard, a balcony, onsite mural, vegetation, playground and elevator. The facility offers stunning views of Sherman Heights and the Coronado Bridge andis centrally located east of downtown San Diego, between Golden Hill and Barrio Logan. There is plenty of street parking as well as easy access to freeways 5 and 805 and interstates 94 and 15.
