El día de los muertos es importante para mi y mi familia porque es importante recordar a nuestros seres queridos. Recordar lo que nos enseñaron y las experiencia que vivimos juntos. * The day of the dead is important to me and my family because it is important to remember our loved ones. ¿Cuántos años llevan creando altares de muertos? * How many years have you been creating altar for the dead?
En casa hay altar todo el año. Mi sobrino Roman Hernandez y yo (Yvette Roman) hemos creado un altar en centros comunitarios por 5 años. Cada año diseñamos algo diferente pero siempre con elementos tradicionales y muchas flores. * At home there is an altar all year round. My nephew Roman Hernandez and I (Yvette Roman) have created an altar in community centers for 5 years. Every year we design something different but always with traditional elements and many flowers.
¿A quién se está conmemorando en este altar, y por qué? * Who are you commemorating this year, and why?
Este altar está dedicado a nuestra familia. Para mi papá Alberto, mis abuelos Lupe, Jose, Andres y Eugenia. Para mi tío Chico y Toño. Para Beto y mi prima Lupe y también para la pequeña Salvia. * This altar is dedicated to our family. For my father Alberto, my grandparents Lupe, Jose, Andres and Eugenia. For my uncle Chico and Toño. For Beto and my cousin Lupe and also for little Salvia.
¿Qué es lo que no puede faltar? What cannot be missing in an altar?La comida y las flores, dos cosas que siempre están presentes en nuestra casa, en especial durante las celebraciones. * Food and flowers, two things that are always present in our house, especially during celebrations.
¿Cómo lograr que esta tradición siga de generación en generación? * How can this tradition continue from generation to generation?Para que siga la tradición es importante que los pequeños participen en crear el altar y en las celebraciones. * To follow the tradition, it is important that the little ones participate in creating the altar and in the celebrations.
¿Cómo te gustaría que te recordaran a tí? How would you like others to remember you?
Si alguien pusiera un altar en mi nombre me gustaría que estuviera lleno de calor y con mucho arte. * If someone were to put an altar in my name I would like it to be full of warmth and with a lot of art.

Cuando terminamos nuestro altar siento orgullo y tengo muchos sentimientos encontrados, me encanta recordar y contar las historias. * When we finish our altar I feel proud and I have many mixed feelings, I love to remember and tell the stories. *
