HISTORY

The Sherman Heights Community Center is a place for people of all ages to gather and receive needed services in the heart of their own community. In 1984 the community began meeting and receiving services in the “yellow house” a beautiful victorian home in Sherman Heights, and in 1994, the SHCC expanded to include a brand new two-story facility designed by Robert Quigley and community members.

Currently our programming includes: After School Enrichment, Youth Summer Camps, Arts & Culture celebrations, Adult ESL, Zumba, Parenting Classes, Health & Wellness Programs, Culinary Workforce Development, Monthly Food Distributions, Senior Enrichment, and more!

ABOUT US

The Sherman Heights Community Center promotes educational, health, personal development, and cultural programs that enhance the well-being of individuals and families in our communities.

The community we serve is predominantly Mexican- American with many families facing economic hardship. This community has preserved itself by using art as an avenue towards empowerment & collaboration. For many years the community has supported and participated in creating, preserving, and cultivating a culture of rich history through the arts here at our center.

“I invite you to join us as we celebrate our community and culture at the Sherman Heights Community Center”.

— Daniela Kelly., Executive Director
